Checklist to guard against pediatric radiography risks
The Image Gently campaign, which aims to help providers reduce pediatric radiation dose, has created a checklist for technologists to use when performing digital radiography exams on pediatric patients.
The checklist, developed through a competitive grant from the FDA, was printed in the October issue of the Journal of the American College of Radiology.
“The purpose of the digital radiography checklist is to ensure that the critical steps to produce satisfactory image quality with optimized dose for children of variable size are performed during radiography,” wrote Susan D. John, MD, the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, and colleagues.
