Eclipsys gains clinical IT installs
Eclipsys Corp. is implementing its Sunrise Clinical Manager with Critical Care and Sunrise ED Manager at Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Implementation is expected to start in the second quarter of 2005, beginning at the PHSA agencies of BC Cancer Agency, BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre.
Sunrise Clinical Manager with Critical Care leverages an alerting system and evidence-based clinical content. Sunrise ED Manager will be integrated with the rest of the healthcare organization through a secure enterprise-wide patient record. Data collection starts in the computer based patient record (CPR) when the patient enters the facility. All previous encounters - whether at the ED, inpatient facilities or affiliated health centers - are accessible through the Health Data Repository.
According to Don Henkelman, CIO, enhancing patient safety and providing accurate, comprehensive information to help healthcare providers make the best possible decisions for their patients are driving forces in the implementation of the system.
Eclipsys' Sunrise Clinical Manager rules and alerts engine provides clinical decision support for clinicians, a capability that is particularly useful when dealing with the complexities of pediatric and oncology medication administration, Henkelman said.
In related company news, Eclipsys is implementing its software, remote hosting and performance improvement systems at New York City's Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).
HSS will implement Eclipsys' Sunrise Clinical Manager, Sunrise Medication Management, Knowledge-Based Medication Administration and Knowledge-Based Charting. The Eclipsys Technology Solutions Center, located in Mountain Lakes, N.J., will remotely host the systems.
HSS also selected the Eclipsys Consulting Group for performance improvement services to be provided during the software implementation phase.
