Elekta places Leksell Gamma Knife at UPMC
Radiation therapy device and information system manufacturer Elekta has installed its Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) for Image-Guided Neurosurgery.
Gamma Knife radiosurgery is used to treat numerous neurosurgical conditions, including brain tumors such as metastatic cancer, as well as vascular malformations and certain functional disorders, according to the Stockholm, Sweden-based Elekta.
