Florida cancer center deploys Varian RapidArc radiotherapy

The Innovative Cancer Institute in South Florida is now using RapidArc radiotherapy technology from Varian Medical Systems.

RapidArc is a form of treatment that targets tumors, while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue, delivering an image-guided, intensity-modulated radiation therapy treatment two to eight times faster, according to the company.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based Varian said its RapidArc radiotherapy technology has now been used for the treatment of prostate, head and neck, lung, brain, spine, bone, gynecological and soft tissue cancers.
