Florida system may lose 4 radiologists amid ‘controversial’ pilot program
NCH Healthcare System in Naples, Florida, confirmed reports that at least four of its radiologists plan to leave the hospital, according to a Fox 4 Southwest Florida story.
Former chair of the NCH Foundation Committee Bob Stucker suggested the resignations could be tied to a “controversial” pilot program placing hospitalists in charge of patient care in certain divisions as opposed to physicians. He also said the loss of the radiologists would significantly impact operations at the hospital, the report stated.
"What I found from talking to these doctors and nurses is that management at the hospital has a very toxic style, and created a toxic culture," he said to Fox 4.
Despite this, NCH’s director of operations, Sarah Frye, said she expects business to continue as usual and that the hospital already had planned to expand their radiology department before the resignations.
A previous report by Naples Daily News found 95 percent of doctors who responded to a recent survey concerning the hospital’s new policy did not agree with the change. A separate 96 percent said they didn’t have confidence in the NCH management team’s leadership in the future, according to that same report.
