IBM to support Norway hospitals

IBM has entered into an agreement with Central Norway Regional Health Authority to provide IT to support all hospitals in Norway and improve coordination and reporting of health information, logistics and finance.

The agreement, announced last week at the Smarter Industries Symposium in Barcelona, Spain, is worth an estimated $120 million, according to IBM, of Armonk, N.Y.

Under the Norway agreement, IBM will provide finance and logistics, information integration, management, operations, maintenance and development of a new tool based on SAP technology. Over the next four years, health authorities throughout the country will upgrade their finance and logistics systems using IBM's SAP product, the company stated.

The deployment will begin with Ostfold Hospital in southeast Norway, IBM reported.
