IDC DR system installed at Harefield Hospital in the U.K.

Imaging Dynamics Company (IDC) announced its first UK installation of the Xplorer system at Harefield Hospital, an academic center of excellence that provides research and treatment of heart and lung diseases. In the recent past, they have been engaged in heart and lung transplant procedures.

Commenting on the introduction of IDC's DR technology, Dr. John Partridge who is a consultant cardiothoracic radiologist and head of the department said, "The unit was installed and interfaced quickly and efficiently, despite the existing generator being quite elderly. Image quality is excellent. Scatter control seems amazingly efficient, and together with a wide dynamic range, the advance over CR is considerable."

IDC expects the UK market for DR technology to be robust. The IDC Xplorer Direct Capture technology is intended to replace cassette-based Computed Radiography (CR) systems.
