InSite One may support 1 million imaging studies with DoD project
InSite One was awarded the Theatre Image Repository project from the Integrated Clinical Systems Program Management Office of the Department of Defense (DoD).
The Wallingford, Conn.-based InSite One will provide a centralized medical image archiving solution for medical imaging collected in theaters of deployment globally and is expected to support one million studies. The project will be supported through a partnership with the Fairfax, Va.-based National Interest Security Company (NISC).
InSite One will utilize its InDex archiving solution to allow care givers to review patient image history for continuing treatment of injuries sustained in theatre as well as provide access to U.S.-based military medical facilities once the patient returns to the U.S. for future evaluation and treatment, according to the company.
The pilot program, consisting primarily of CT, CR and MR image types, will be based at the European Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. It will provide image access to Army medical installations across the DoD network.
With the defense information assurance certification and accreditation process certification completed by NISC as part of this program, InDex will become certified to reside on the DoD network and thus eligible to participate in the pending request for replacing the existing PACS infrastructure in DoD healthcare facilities and regional archives.
