IntelliDOT wins N.C. install
Halifax Regional Medical Center, a 206-bed hospital in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., has implemented the Bedside Medication Administration (BMA) from IntelliDOT, a provider of wireless handheld, barcode point-of-care solutions to hospitals.
BMA is the first wireless, nurse-centric workflow manager to connect caregivers with information systems at the point-of-care, according to the San Diego-based IntelliDOT.
At Halifax Regional, IntelliDOT BMA communicates with the hospital's Meditech hospital information system (HIS) through a Quovadx Cloverleaf interface engine. Admissions, discharges, transfers and pharmacy encoded orders are passed from Meditech via an HL7 interface and sent wirelessly to IntelliDOT handhelds carried by nurses. Medication administration is completed by nurses at bedside, which is then documented on the electronic medication administration record, the company said.
