Maine provider taps athenahealth

athenahealth, a developer of cloud-based practice management, EHR and patient communication services to medical groups, has signed an agreement with the Maine Medical Center Physician-Hospital Organization (MMC PHO), a nonprofit partnership of the MMC and the Community Physicians of Maine (CPM).

The MMC PHO supports more than 1,000 CPM physician members. Under the deal, MMC PHO will introduce its members to athenaCollector, athenahealth’s practice management and medical billing offering, and athenaClinicals, its EHR offering.

The Watertown, Mass.-based athenahealth said its services run in the cloud, a web-based environment. On the network, users are kept current with clinical requirements and reimbursement rules.
