Michigan Blue Cross to implement IT updates

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) is planning to expand its healthcare electronic data interchange clearinghouse and portal, which administers health benefits to more than 4.6 million members residing in Michigan.

The BCBSM provider portal, web-DENIS, is being used by more than 30,000 Michigan physicians and other providers.

In early 2008, BCBSM will add traditional Medicare eligibility and benefit information to its online clearinghouse and portal, enabling Michigan physicians and hospitals to reference the portal to check and verify benefits and coverage for beneficiaries.
