Interventional radiologists have a new way to compare their work with that of their peers and see how it stacks up against performance benchmarks set at the national, regional and practice level.
It’s the Interventional Radiology Registry, jointly introduced March 1 by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR).
The new registry rolls in as part of ACR’s National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR), and it will further facilitate interventional rads’ board certification maintenance as well as their participation in CMS’s Quality Payment Program, according to the announcement.
ACR’s chief executive, William Thorwarth Jr., MD, says patients will benefit by the new registry, as interventional radiologists use it to “gain the knowledge needed to support highly informed decision-making and to facilitate patient safety and quality improvement efforts.”
