N.Y. GI practice to employ SmartPill monitoring system

Gastroenterology Associates in Williamsville, N.Y., has installed the SmartPill GI monitoring system in its practice, offering the gastrointestinal (GI) technology to patients in western New York.

The Buffalo, N.Y.-based SmartPill received FDA clearance in July 2006. The SmartPill GI monitoring system, which features the SmartPill pH.p capsule, is a medical device capable of providing segmented transit times for gastric emptying, combined small and large bowel, and total GI tract, according to the company.
