Philips scores Belgian install for SpeechMagic

Philips Speech Processing said that its SpeechMagic speech recognition technology has been implemented facility-wide at AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Brugge, Belgium. The system has been integrated with the hospital’s reporting product, MediSpeech by G2 Speech, and with the facility’s electronic health record (EHR) to turn spoken information into clinical data, according to the Vienna, Austria-based company.

The SpeechMagic technology identifies section headings in a dictated text to structure the data in the hospital-wide EHR system. Reports are then distributed to the general practitioner via the hospital’s extranet or Belgium’s dedicated virtual private network for healthcare organizations.

Driven by the radiology and the pathology departments, the 900-bed hospital has deployed the integrated system across other specialties, including cardiology, gynecology and orthopedics, Philips said.
