Provena Health makes move to digital operations via McKesson systems

Provena Health, a six-hospital Catholic health system based in Mokena, Ill., plans to install McKesson's Horizon Radiology, an integrated RIS/PACS, with the aim of reducing film costs and to make medical images and information available electronically.

In addition, the health system will use McKesson's Web-based OPTYXSM technology to improve the integrity of medical supply data, help analyze purchasing expenses and drive cost-reduction initiatives. OPTYX is the first healthcare data management system to compensate for the lack of industry standards for describing medical-surgical supplies. By cleansing and normalizing Provena's medical supply data, OPTYX will enable the multi-hospital system to have full and accurate visibility of its spending, McKesson said.
