RTI nets multiple PACS deals

RealTimeImage (RTI) of San Bruno, Calif. is implementing its iPACS Prism Web-based PACS at Acacia Neuro and Surgery Clinic in Tokyo, Japan.

The sale to Acacia was made by Japanese distributor Medasys.

The system is able to stream lossless images in real time. Acacia is installing the PACS to enhance the speed and quality of Acacia's communications with referring clinics. As Acacia's exam volume increases, it also plans to implement remote CT and MRI diagnoses using a contracted radiology group at a local hospital, RTI said.

In related company news, RTI said it installed its iPACS Prism at Shoshone Medical Center (SMC) in Kellogg, Idaho, a 25-bed critical-access facility that serves the state's Northern Silver Valley.

As a GE Healthcare showcase hospital, SMC has modern DR and CR systems as well as a multislice CT scanner and the first open-magnet MRI in north Idaho, RTI said. Prior to the purchase, SMC did not have a PACS as they performed 9,000 studies per year, and then partnered with a local hospital for reading and diagnostic services enabled by teleradiology.
