Siemens to deploy first Somatom Definition AS
Erlangen University Hospital’s surgical trauma center will be the first to install Siemens Medical Solutions’ Somatom Definition adaptive scanner (AS) CT system.
The university hospital has two locations in Germany, Nuremberg and Erglangen. The hospital staffs more than 5,300 employees throughout its 21 clinics.
Siemens said its Somatom can be used with various clinical cases, including children, obese patients, stroke, noninvasive cardiac imaging, emergency cases or standard examinations. The Somatom Definition AS manages radiation doses through its Active Dose Shield, which removes clinically irrelevant doses, according to the company.
