Siemens inks contract for MRI, ultrasound with HealthTrust

Siemens Medical Solutions has inked a 3-year contract to provide magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound technologies to HealthTrust Purchasing Group (HPG), of Brentwood, Tenn., a group purchasing organization that supports not-for-profit and for-profit, acute-care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, alternate care sites, and physician practices, Siemens said.

HPG supports a network of 1,500 participating hospitals and healthcare systems.

HPG will have the option of using any of Siemens' MRI systems, including the MAGNETOM Avanto, Symphony, Trio and Espree, all available with Tim (Total Imaging Matrix) technology. Similarly, all of Siemens' advanced ultrasound technologies will be available, including the ACUSON Sequoia ultrasound platform, as well as the SONOLINE Antares, G60 S and G50 ultrasound systems, Siemens said. This is the first agreement by HPG to grant access to its membership to Siemens' MRI systems.
