Siemens installs mobile mammography system in U.S.

Siemens Medical Solutions has completed its first U.S. installation of Mammomat Novation DR, a mobile full-field digital mammography system, at Nevada Cancer Institute's new Hope Coach, a mobile digital mammography van serving the Las Vegas area.

The Hope Coach was launched on Oct. 1 to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The mobile imaging facility will visit worksites and other venues throughout the Las Vegas area, making breast cancer screening more convenient for women whose busy lifestyle keeps them from undergoing the recommended examination, according to Siemens.

Siemens said its Mammomat Novation DR includes a flat-panel detector built on Selenium technology, which allows the direct conversion of x-ray information to digital.
