U.K. hospital deploys Siemens digital cath lab

Taunton and Somerset Hospital in England has deployed an Axiom Artis dFC imaging system from Siemens Healthcare in its cardiac cath lab.

The company said its Siemens Axiom Sensis is a scalable hemodynamic and electrophysiology recording platform, which provides a dedicated cardiac system. The system is coupled with a Medcon system to provide diagnostic and interventional procedures, and Tomcat to assist with data management and investigation scheduling.

The addition of the new Axiom Artis dFC system facilitates angiography procedures allowing doctors to analyze the heart and arteries for the insertion of permanent pacemakers, Siemens said.

According to the company, the Axiom Sensis is designed to improve workflow and patient throughput because of its bi-directional communication capabilities, which combine technologies that facilitate automatic transfer of patient data from Axiom Sensis to the Axiom Artis system.
