Varian Medical equips two Swiss cancer centers with radiotherapy

The Clinique de Genolier and the Genève Centre de Radio-Oncologie, two new private cancer centers in Switzerland, have installed radiotherapy machines from Varian Medical Systems.

With the arrival of high-energy Clinac linear accelerators, doctors will be able to start offering image-guided, advanced intensity modulated radiation therapy treatments to patients, according to the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company.

Both machines also come equipped with On-Board Imager for image-guided radiotherapy accessories, which enable diagnostic quality images of the patient to be taken at the time of treatment and for the patient position to be adjusted accordingly, Varian said.
