VCU Medical Center uses eMix to share rad reports

Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (VCUMC) in Richmond, Va., is now using cloud-based technology eMix from DR Systems for sharing imaging studies and reports.

VCUMC is currently receiving radiology images and reports from four medical organizations:
  • Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Va.;
  • eHealth Global Technologies in Rochester, N.Y.;
  • Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, Va.; and
  • Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Va.

eMix enables sharing of images and reports among disparate institutions and physicians via the internet, according to the San Diego-based DR Systems. Because eMix is a cloud-based, hosted service, hospitals and other healthcare providers do not need to purchase or maintain additional hardware or software, the company added.

The new technology shows early potential to make a significant impact on imaging workflows and patient care.
