Draft legislation targets MD payments for overvalued services

Legislation recently drafted by a bipartisan group of Congressmen aims to reduce doctor payments by reevaluating the current pricing system used by Medicare and most private insurers, according to a report from the Washington Post. Under the bill, Medicare officials would be required to track data such as physician workflow and reduce payments for overvalued services.

The bill is sponsored by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Pitts (R-Pa.), Michael C. Burgess (R-Tex.), Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.), Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.) and John D. Dingell (D-Mich.).
