NEMA releases updated standards for measuring PET performance
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published its updated guidelines for measuring and reporting performance specifications of PET scanners on Friday, July 13.
The “NEMA NU 2-2018 Performance Measurements of Positron Emission Tomographs (PET)” standards contain two new tests, according to a NEMA release:
- A measurement of time-of-flight (TOF) resolution for TOF-equipped PET scanners
- The co-registration accuracy between the computed tomography (CT) and PET components of a hybrid PET/CT scanner
"NU 2 makes it possible to objectively compare scanners during the purchasing decision process, and, after delivery, defines tests to ensure that a quality system has been delivered," said Michael Miller, chair of the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance NU 2 Work Group, in the statement.
