Austin-based Imaging centers serviced by McDATA's SAN

Networking storage provider, McDATA Corp.of Broomfield, Colo., announced the successful implementation of the company's storage area network (SAN) for the Austin Radiological Association (ARA) in Texas.

ARA installed the device to support a data-intensive PACS and to deliver digital radiological images and reading services through its 15 imaging centers in the Austin metro area. More than 2,000 referring physicians contract with ARA to read approximately 320,000 exams per year.

"We're providing services to area healthcare facilities that couldn't provide them on their own. We use the proceeds to offset infrastructure costs and ultimately lower per-exam storage costs," said Todd Thomas, ARA CIO.
