aycan Introduces New Mammography Workstation

Rochester, NY, June 18, 2015.  aycan, a recognized global leader in medical imaging, announced today the launch of their new mammography workstation optimized for use with EIZO monitors, including the new widescreen EIZO RX850. The FDA 510(k) cleared, Apple based workstation also includes a new Quadrant Zoom feature and tomosynthesis support that provide improved diagnostic capability.

aycan, with business partner EIZO, have validated two EIZO monitors for use with the workstation, the RX850 and GX540. The RX850 color monitor effectively replaces a multi-monitor setup with a 31.1”, 8MP screen capable of displaying a variety of medical images at once, including digital mammography, MRI, and ultrasound. The GX540 5MP monitors offer high brightness of 1,200 cd/m2, which brings out subtle differences in similar shades of gray and sharper renderings of details when displaying monochrome digital mammography images. Both diagnostic monitors feature high definition, high resolution and multi-grayscale, and are designed specifically for displaying digital mammography images.

“aycan is dedicated to supporting the unique needs of the mammography and other medical communities,” said Frank Burkhardt, aycan Director, North & Latin American Operations.  “This joint solution supports our customers need for efficient, integrated solutions that improve quality and productivity, while lowering costs,” added Burkhardt.

Other capabilities added to the aycan mammography workstation include a new Quadrant Zoom feature, which provides a dynamic image view—the images are automatically increased to 1:1 and segments (quadrants) are visualized for the reviewer. The new workstation now also supports the display of tomosynthesis (3D mammo) objects, making it ideal for primary and secondary screening.

Optimized for the mammography workflow, aycan mammography workstation is powered by aycan OsiriX PRO, a 64-bit fast, Mac-based, vendor-neutral, highly functional advanced image-processing tool and DICOM PACS workstation for conventional, multi-slice and other image reading. The advanced Hanging Protocol plug-in in the aycan mammography workstation provides increased image loading times and an intuitive user-interface that is easy to use, including the evaluation of dynamic breast MRI studies. The turnkey workstation offers FDA 510 (k) clearance, CE Marking, and full integration-service and customer support.
