BellSouth brings technology down south

BellSouth announced it is improving the communication infrastructure of the seven hospitals and 14 walk-in medical centers that make up Florida Hospital.

One of the largest healthcare systems in the country, Florida Hospital relies on the infrastructure to deliver important patient information as part of its daily operations.

Florida Hospital most recently implemented the BellSouth managed network VPN (virtual private network) service to link Florida Hospital with its 14 outlying clinics. By combining the system's network firewall and the ability to incorporate DSL, frame relay and private line connections on one wide area network (WAN), Florida Hospital can share files, including electronic x-ray information, between locations.

Additional services provided by BellSouth include: voice transport; dedicated Internet access service; wireless communications and long distance services.
