Cardica releases new distal anastomosis system
Cardica has introduced its C-Port xA X-Change distal anastomosis system, now commercially available in the United States.
The Redwood City, Calif.-based Cardica said its new system, a cartridge-based, reloadable C-Port system, allows surgeons to attach multiple blood vessel grafts using the same handle during a coronary artery bypass graft procedure, which may reduce costs.
The company said it is offering the cartridge-based C-Port xA X-Change system to address surgeons’ bypass needs with a single handle, which Bernard A. Hausen, MD, president and CEO of Cardica, said less expensive than using a new C-Port system for each anastomosis.
The FDA granted 510(k) clearance in December 2007.
