CHIME names state advocacy award winner

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has announced the recipient of its state advocacy award. Edward W. Marx was named the winner of the group's fourth annual award.

The senior vice president and CIO of Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas, was recognized for his work with CHIME StateNet. Marx’s responsibilities as StateNet’s Texas chief information officer coordinator include gathering and communicating relevant information on in-state health IT developments.

In addition to his work with CHIME and at Texas Health Resources, Marx is chairman of the Texas Health Services Authority and has advocated for health IT before the state legislature.

“As the healthcare industry enters a period of great change, it is more important than ever for chief information officers to get engaged in the public policy process,” Marx said in a Sept. 12 statement.
