Dendrite, EU cardio-thoracic group launch A-fib registry

The European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, in association with Dendrite Clinical Systems, has launched the International Atrial Fibrillation Registry (IAFR).

The IAFR is designed to capture data and report patient outcomes following surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, according to the Oxfordshire, England-based Dendrite.

“The goal is to collect data from across Europe to enable us to make better informed judgments on the appropriate surgical treatment approaches for the management of atrial fibrillation,” said Steven Hunter, registry chairman of the cardiothoracic division at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, U.K.

The objective of the IAFR is to accumulate data to allow the publication of a comprehensive report (published by Dendrite) on the outcomes following atrial fibrillation surgery, achieved through the collection of data at the individual patient level, which can then be used to track individuals and groups of patients,  the company said.

Dendrite said that the reports will be made freely available to all contributors.
