Device allows you to take your medical history with you

These days if you lose your keys you might also be losing your medical history, or at least a copy of it. A new very small portable storage device offered from start-up company Dx-PRN lets patients store their medical history and take it everywhere they go for use in the event of an emergency.

The device called JumpStart to Diagnosis is just 2.5 inches by 1 inch, weighs less than an ounce, and can be carried on a key chain, necklace or connected to a wrist band.

The data stored on it is available by simply popping it into a PC's USB port. Dx-PRN also offers the capability to digitize and index a patient's medical information.

In addition, the device enables clinicians to have medical information stored on it to be dictated. This functionality requires the use of version 6 of Adobe Acrobat through a compatible computer.
