Dictaphone, Vepro integrate speech and PACS technologies

Dictaphone Corp. and Vepro AG have completed the integration of Dictaphone's PowerScribe speech recognition technology with Vepro's MedImage picture archiving and communication system (PACS).

With the combined technologies, the companies say doctors can view images in MedImage and dictate reports immediately. Physicians also can either view the result of the voice recognition on the PACS screen instantly or send the report for editing.

Vepro has more than 3,600 PACS in operation worldwide.

Dictaphone's PowerScribe is an integrated voice recognition, dictation and medical transcription management system.
