Dilon goes portable with gamma camera

Dilon Technologies unveiled a transportable version of the firm’s Dilon 6800 gamma camera at the 94th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago.

The Dilon 6800 gamma camera is a high-resolution, small field-of-view gamma camera that has been optimized to perform breast-specific gamma imaging (BGSI).

The transportable camera expands the clinical utility of the Dilon 6800, by providing the flexibility of transporting the camera to areas of need that may not have high enough patient volumes to justify a full-time system, such as small community hospitals.

The company also announced a partnership with PenRad Mammography Information Systems. The PenRad MIS auditing and tracking system creates efficiencies for clinics and hospitals where BSGI is performed. The software helps facilities meet MQSA requirements by creating reports, patient letters, statistics and analytics.

In addition, Dilon also unveiled an alliance with ultrasound developer Terason to offer an expanded imaging capability when molecular breast imaging and ultrasound may be required. When used as a complement to the Dilon 6800 Gamma Camera, physicians are able to move from BSGI to ultrasound without leaving the exam room, Dilon said.

The company also displayed its GammaLoc system, a gamma-camera guidance localization platform to enable breast biopsy. The system is pending FDA 510(k) clearance.
