Edwards, DexCom earn CE Mark for glucose monitoring system

Edwards Lifesciences, a developer of heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring systems, and DexCom have received a CE Mark for an automatic glucose monitoring system.

Irvine, Calif.-based Edwards and San Diego-based DexCom co-developed this new system, which is indicated for automatic, real-time monitoring and trending of blood glucose concentration in adult patients in the hospital environment.

The companies plan to begin deploying its first-generation system in a limited number of European sites before the end of the year.
