Expanding mobile mammography fleet delivers increased imaging access
Charlotte Radiology is expanding its successful fleet of mobile imaging centers to meet increased demand and provide women with access to early detection cancer screenings at their place of employment, according to a company press release.
The fleet, which consists of a group of 38-foot-long buses outfitted with state-of-the-art breast screening facilities, has serviced more than 40,000 patients in 15 states since being deployed in 2011.
The addition of a fourth mobile mammography unit comes with an upgrade—the capability to perform onsite digital breast tomosynthesis, also known as 3D mammography, for a $55 out-of-pocket fee.
“The mobile breast centers bring early breast cancer detection right to the workplace,” said the company’s corporate health and community relations manager. Katie Yarborough, “allowing health-conscious employers the opportunity to provide their employees with a more convenient option for breast cancer screening.”
