FDA clears Somatom Definition Edge CT system

The FDA has approved Siemens Healthcare's Somatom Definition Edge single-source CT system–the first single-source CT to use Siemens’ Stellar Detector–for sale in the U.S.

The system’s Stellar Detector integrates the detector’s electronics with the photodiode, according to the company. The Somatom Definition Edge CT system can enable visualization of structures up to 0.3 mm, and has a rotation speed up to 0.28 seconds and can acquire up to 23 cm/s.
