FDA greenlights Siemens IQSPECT

Siemens Healthcare has received FDA 510(k) clearance IQ•SPECT, its newest Symbia feature that enables a cardiac evaluation including perfusion, attenuation correction and calcium scoring in five minutes.

IQ•SPECT technology is achieved with Smartzoom collimators that magnify the heart while imaging the rest of the torso under traditional conditions. Combining the cardio-centric orbit acquisition technique with 3D iterative reconstruction enables a confident diagnoses and improved patient comfort, Siemens said.

The feature is commercially available on all Symbia S and T systems, and is field upgradeable for any existing systems, according to the company.
