Vendors have optimized both notebooks and handheld computers for the healthcare market with ultra-durable, portable products and workflow-enhancing handheld software. The newest solutions promise to facilitate anytime-anywhere medicine, increase productivity and improve patient care.
Eclipsys Corp. (booth #4351) is introducing Pocket Sunrise 4.0 XA, a wireless mobile companion to Sunrise 4.0 XA and highlighting Remote Access Services (RAS) 4.0 XA.
Pocket Sunrise mobilizes physicians by giving them the ability to review results, acknowledge alerts and place orders from PocketPC handheld devices within the walls of the hospital and at wireless-enabled homes and coffee shops. Clinicians on rounds or outside the hospital can review a patient's current condition and order additional tests, medications, and nursing orders. Patient information such as current medications, allergies, other care providers, orders, results, history and physicals, can be checked as well.
RAS 4.0 XA allows clinicians to access Eclipsys' Sunrise Clinical Manager from outside of the hospital to conduct order entry, acknowledge alerts, review results, patient lists and patient summary information. RAS 4.0 XA integrates with Secure Health Messaging for remote access and communication on multiple browsers.

MD Coder supplies healthcare professionals with the ability to capture delicate and pertinent patient charges at the point of care.

It features an Intel ultra-low-voltage 900MHz Pentium M processor with enhanced SpeedStep technology, 1MB on-die L2 cache, 256MB SDRAM (DDR) (512 max.) and Intel 855GM system architecture. Other features include integrated Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 802.11b, 100Base-TX/10 BaseT wired LAN and 56K V90 analog modem capability.

The system also reduces transcriber or treatment errors and improves cash flow with immediate transaction processing to the billing system. Patient electronic charts include diagnostic images, treatment paths, vital signs and medications.
