HIMSS, Dorenfest ink agreement

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) this week signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire The Dorenfest IHDS+ Database and related business assets from Sheldon I. Dorenfest & Associates Ltd., a Chicago-based provider of healthcare information technology (IT) consulting and market data.

HIMSS says it will utilize the acquisition as the foundation for its new subsidiary - HIMSS Analytics - that will offer market research-based services to help assist healthcare organizations in their business and IT decision making.

The Dorenfest IHDS+ Database profiles the IT efforts of all large healthcare providers. Many healthcare IT companies already use the database as the foundation of their sales and marketing information systems.

The subsidiary company will be headquartered in Chicago, Ill. For more information on HIMSS Analytics, visit the organization's web site at www.himssanalytics.com.
