IDS installs CT mammo system at Indian hospital

Breast imaging technology developer Imaging Diagnostic Systems (IDS) has installed its CT Laser Mammography system at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India.

The hospital is currently participating in a marketing campaign and consumer awareness program for the new breast imaging system, which utilizes continuous wave laser technology and computer algorithms to create 3D images of the breast to reveal information about blood distribution and angiogenesis, which usually accompanies tumor growth, said the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based IDS.

The system is now undergoing clinical studies to gain FDA marketing clearance to be used as an adjunct to mammography, according to the company.
