IHE seeking public comments on cardiology initiative
The Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) initiative has announced several new technical framework supplements available for public comment through July 15th. The documents include seven new 2004-2005 IHE Integration Profiles in the information technology (IT) infrastructure and cardiology domains.
The IHE IT Infrastructure Technical Committee published four supplements to the IHE IT Infrastructure Technical Framework, rev. 1.0, for public review. They are:
The IHE XDS Integration Profile is expected to be one of the major highlights of the 2005 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in Dallas, Tex., Feb. 13-17, where it will be used as a foundation for an on-site technical demonstration of interoperability in support of a National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII). Attendees at the conference will be able to create and share their own health records across vendor booths as well as in the ambulatory and acute care settings on the conference exhibit floor.
Industry members and professional society representatives have worked extensively to create the IHE Cardiology Technical Framework Year 1, a document that conveys the technical specifications for implementing IHE Cardiology. The technical framework document contains clinical use cases and technical specifications for the first three IHE Cardiology Integration Profiles that include:
Vendors will demonstrate the IHE IT Infrastructure and Cardiology Integration Profiles at the 2005 Annual HIMSS Conference in February 2005 and at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Scientific Session in March 2005 in Orlando, Fla.
