Image Gently from the consumer’s eye view

A TV station in Arizona has posted a segment on Image Gently and what else is being done to reduce radiation exposure in children undergoing diagnostic imaging exams.

FOX 10 in Phoenix put Richard Towbin, MD, chief of radiology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, in front of the camera.

“All our radiation [imaging] equipment—fluoroscopy, regular x-ray, CT scanning, interventional radiology—all are new generations of equipment with the low-dose protocols built in,” Towbin says. “And then we go further with the [vendors] and on our own to further reduce those baseline doses to the lowest we can do and still get diagnostic quality imaging, which we must.”
