NEC offers the first LED-backlit LCD desktop display

NEC Display Solutions has announced the availability of the NEC SpectraView LCD2180WG LED monitor. According to the company, this is the first desktop display offered to the market that features a light emitting diode (LED) backlight which has been designed to provide increased levels of image detail and color.

The display uses a combination of red, green and blue LEDs to produce the white-light backlight source it offers, which the company says will produce a very broad color gamut without any loss of luminance.
