NetApp touts growth in SAN and networked storage markets

Network Appliance Inc. said it has maintained foothold in both the network-attached storage (NAS) and iSCSI storage markets for calendar year 2004.
   
According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker Q4 2004, NetApp demonstrated in the NAS market a 36.9 percent in revenue share and maintained a 43 percent revenue share in the iSCSI storage market.
   
In addition, NetApp remained on top of the IP storage market (NAS and iSCSI), posting a 37.3 percent market share in FY2004.
   
Also according to IDC, the company grew revenue in the open systems networked storage market, with 29.7 percent year-over-year (Q4 FY03 to Q4 FY04) growth, versus overall market growth of 11.6 percent. NetApp grew revenue in the open SAN market at 98.9 percent, versus the market growth of 9.2 percent, year over year (fourth quarter 2003 to fourth quarter 2004).
