Philips installs 50th cath lab suite

Philips has installed its 50th Ambient Experience catheterization suite at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland.

Philips said its Ambient Experience integrates architecture, design and enabling technologies, such as lighting, sound, projection and RFID, to allow patients to personalize their environment and wrap themselves in a relaxing ambience. The design also eliminates unnecessary physical barriers in the imaging suite for better patient and staff interaction, according to the company.

For children, Philips said it provides the KittenScanner, a miniature CT system that is an educational tool to help explain in a playful way how a CT scanner works.

Fairview, a faith-based community hospital with 478 licensed beds, is part of the Cleveland Clinic Health System.

In addition to Fairview Hospital, The Villages Regional Hospital in The Villages, Florida, and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia have completed installations of Ambient Experience cath lab suites in January 2008, Philips said.
