Philips Medical Systems launches new ultrasound system

Philips Medical Systems is introducing a new generation, high-performance ultrasound system, the iU22.

The system's mobile platform with capabilities focused on ergonomics and patient viewing will be added to Philips existing line of ultrasound systems.

The iU22 features fully integrated 2D, 3D and real-time 4D imaging modes, as well as multiplanar reconstruction (MPR). Philips says the iU22 also is equipped with Explora transducers with ultra-high frequencies (up to 17 MHz). Voice-activated controls are integrated with the device, using Philips iCommand software that recognizes more than 2,200 commands. Philips says iCommand is useful for vascular, pediatric and interoperative exams as well as exams outside the radiology department (OR, ED, bedside).

Philips intends to showcase the iU22 ultrasound system at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, Austria, from March 5-9.
