Plasmon closes on purchase of Raidtec
Archival storage firm Plasmon on Wednesday completed its acquisition of Raidtec for approximately $6.1 million.
Raidtec, headquartered in Cork, Ireland, develops and manufactures SAN and NAS storage networking solutions. The company markets its technologies and components worldwide.
"For more than two years, we have been working with our larger system integration partners to meet their requirements for an integrated network attached archive," said Plasmon CEO Nigel Street. "Over the last 15 months we have been engaged with Raidtec to build a next-generation product that bundles their storage networking and RAID technologies with Plasmon libraries. Acquiring Raidtec is the next logical step in our relationship and allows Plasmon to benefit directly from Raidtec's 12 years of experience and core technology in NAS operating systems and controllers."
Plasmon has signed contracts with major medical imaging customers to supply integrated archival storage products late this year. Plasmon will continue to market and support existing Raidtec products and plans to introduce new products currently under development. Raidtec products and components will continue to be sold worldwide through existing channels under the Raidtec brand.
Plasmon's portfolio includes UDO (Ultra Density Optical) drives and media based on blue laser recording technology.
