RSNA: PACSHealth, Swedus unite, introduce DoseMonitor

PACSHealth and Swedus have united to form PHS Technologies Group, which has developed and will market DoseMonitor, a software application that monitors cumulative radiation dose in patients.

DoseMonitor calculates a patient's historical radiation exposure and will provide users with alerts about the patient's cumulative exposure, the company claimed. PHSTG also said that DoseMonitor can identify devices and exam procedures that no longer meet safe radiation dose specifications.

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based PACSHealth and Stockholm-based Swedus said that DoseMonitor utilizes algorithms and standardized dose values of diagnostic imaging equipment to provide radiation dose values for patients and imaging devices. PACSHealth is a medical imaging software producer, while Swedus, a unit of Sapheneia, AB, supplies diagnostic and analytical image processing products.
