Siemens and U-Systems agree to combine ultrasound technologies

Siemens Medical Solutions' Ultrasound division will contribute the engine of its Sonoline Antares ultrasound system for integration with U-Systems Inc.'s full-field breast ultrasound (FFBU) system.

U-Systems President and CEO Joseph Pepper said the agreement combines U-Systems' transducer and image display technologies with Siemens' premium ultrasound technology, "giving radiologists a cost-effective ultrasound solution to complement mammography."

The FFBU system is designed to image the whole breast and deliver results to physicians in a standardized format for high-volume ultrasound imaging on women with dense breasts. The FFBU system is designed to complement mammography as an aid for radiologists in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.
