Siemens introduces portable ultrasound system
Siemens Medical Solutions this week introduced the Sonoline G40 portable ultrasound imaging system with color Doppler and pulse-wave Doppler capabilities to meet the daily clinical needs of a variety of clinical settings, including general imaging, obstetrics/gynecology, and internal medicine, Siemens said.
Making it portable, the compact system is designed with built-in cable management and a DIMAQ-IP integrated workstation that includes a built-in, CD read/write drive for output and archiving of exam data. In addition, the system's connectivity scheme allows it to be integrated into DICOM-enabled networks and PC-based workstations.
Phased array technology expands the system's clinical capabilities to include cardiac survey and small-footprint abdominal imaging. Other advances include Virtual Format Imaging (VFI), which offers a variety of linear, trapezoidal and steered two-dimensional imaging formats. In addition, parallel B-mode and color signal processing provides higher frame rates and a better color performance.
Siemens said the G40 system is expected to be available for purchase in April 2005.
